Sunday School

Every church community will have its own Sunday School arrangements and you will need to ask someone in your church to find out details, or refer to "What's On" for the programme nearest you. That said; there are some basic guidelines that most Sunday Schools will follow.

What is the point of Sunday School?

Children need an opportunity to be taught at a very different level and in a different manner to adults. Sunday School is an environment which enables this to happen. One of the most important aspects of the Christian faith is understanding what worship is and knowing the bible – Sunday School provides this.

A basic format

Most Sunday Schools will include a few key activities: A bible story, a practical activity that relates to the readings that are being read by the adults in church, and some prayers.

If your child is a bit worried or shy about going off to Sunday School then go along with them for the first few weeks. It will help them settle in and allow you to see what they are doing during the service time.
