Alpha is open to everyone who wants a safe environment to explore the ‘big questions’ of life. It’s designed especially for people who don’t have a Christian background. Over ten weeks (including a weekend or day away in the middle), participants spend time looking at a different aspect of the Christian faith. Courses can be held over morning coffee, during a lunch hour, but most are held in the evening over dinner or supper. Sessions begin with food – which provides a chance to get to know the other people on the course – before a moving on to a short talk. This is followed by discussion time in small groups, where everyone is encouraged to share their opinion, ask questions, and discuss with the rest of the group.
There are different Alpha courses to cater for all sorts of people - Youth Alpha, Student Alpha, Alpha for Prisons, Senior Alpha, Alpha for Forces, Alpha in the Workplace, Alpha for ESOL, and of course the original Alpha Course designed for adults.
Over 150,000 New Zealanders have attended an Alpha Course – why not join them?
